I had someone seriously cute visit the studio last weekend.  I first photographed Lia as a newborn and just loved seeing this cutie again a year later.
Having a multi cultural family myself, I absolutely love to incorporate important cultural traditions into photo sessions.  Lia’s mama is Korean and for Lia’s birthday (or doljanchi), grandma gifted her a beautiful traditional dress called a Hanbok.  Lia’s parents asked that we take photos in her hanbok.  We also documented her Doljabi selection. A Doljabi is a korean ceremony where items symbolizing potential future professions are put on a table or tray in front of the child.  The item the child chooses foretells his or her future.  Lia chose a stethoscope so it looks like we have a future doctor or nurse on our hands!
Lia’s parents also wanted to incorporate the American tradition of a cake smash.  Her momma made a beautiful cake, topped with flowers and Lia happily dug in!
