I can’t believe Evelyn is ONE! Not only did I get to celebrate with her, but she brought all her friends with her too! Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet were all there, but Evelyn wasn’t sharing the cake. She got to smash and eat it all on her own.
I remember taking her pretty mama’s maternity photos AND again when Evelyn was a little newborn. I’m so lucky to see her grow into a sweet little girl. Now she’s sporting flower crowns and pigtails. Seriously, where has time gone??

Happy happy birthday to this sweet little guy! He came to visit me for his first birthday milestone updates. He is crawling, pulling to standing, and willing to push chairs around. He gave me a few smiles that he and his mama had to work for. He absolutely loved that he had balloons at his session, was intrigued by his cupcake, made a really nice mess, and most of all, really loved his splash time at the end of the session.
This sweet little sunflower came back to visit me for her first birthday photos! She makes the sweetest little conversational baby sounds and loved pointing at everything in the studio. She gave us some quick smiles mixed in with lots of serious faces.
Mama requested a sunflower session because her baby shower was sunflower themed. This was so much fun to create! Mama also had a few other requests for her session that we certainly worked in, but I will leave it to her to share the rest!
I had someone seriously cute visit the studio last weekend. I first photographed Lia as a newborn and just loved seeing this cutie again a year later.
Having a multi cultural family myself, I absolutely love to incorporate important cultural traditions into photo sessions. Lia’s mama is Korean and for Lia’s birthday (or doljanchi), grandma gifted her a beautiful traditional dress called a Hanbok. Lia’s parents asked that we take photos in her hanbok. We also documented her Doljabi selection. A Doljabi is a korean ceremony where items symbolizing potential future professions are put on a table or tray in front of the child. The item the child chooses foretells his or her future. Lia chose a stethoscope so it looks like we have a future doctor or nurse on our hands!
Lia’s parents also wanted to incorporate the American tradition of a cake smash. Her momma made a beautiful cake, topped with flowers and Lia happily dug in!

Kayleigh turned two and to celebrate, she and her family came to visit for photos. We started out with traditional family photo updates with a shy and reserved Kayleigh. She was happy to share silly faces but wasn’t going to readily dish out smiles. She did send a smirk or two my way though!
When family photos were through, Kayleigh got to dig into her second birthday cake made by her talented Auntie over at Pink Polka Dot Bake Shop. She really did dig into her cake too! …with a spoon! Thank goodness mom and dad were prepared for such a request. This lady was pinky up for a few bites and when she was done left most of her cake in tact to be saved for later.
I absolutely love taking milestone photos. The only downside is that the first year goes by SO fast. I can’t believe it was just about a year ago that I met this wonderful family and a baby Riley for their newborn photos. This summer, I visited for 6 month updates, and now little man is turning 1 in a few short weeks! Check out a few sneaks from their session!

Oh Baby A, you’re such a doll. I have to say that I’m sad this little lady is 1 already. This year flew by. I’m going to miss taking her photos every month! Kudos to her mommy for keeping up with monthly photos, too! It’s a lot of work!
This gal was the very first newborn I photographed. It’s really nice to look back and see how my work has improved in just a year. Even better is seeing how much Baby A has grown.
