Happy birthday to this sweet girl! I adore her gorgeous hair, blue eyes and those most perfect baby legs! Charlotte had a few happy moments, sitting in my cute new box (the things I do to babies!) She also showed us the progress she is making toward walking, and was quite perplexed by that pesky number 1 that I kept putting in front of her.
Some new studio news: I will be available for indoor milestone sessions on Monday and Tuesdays beginning in September! If you are planning a milestone session for the fall–now is the best time to book to ensure your pick of dates.
If you are looking for a baby photographer in the Northern Virginia area, I would love to work with you. Milestone photos are taken at my in-home studio in Sterling, VA when your baby is showing good head control, sitting, standing or, celebrating their first birthday. Discounted baby plans are also available. It is important to book your milestone session 4-6 weeks in advance. Please contact me for specific availability.
I spent a good few weeks talking with my friends about how Punxsutawney Phil got his prediction for a late spring wrong this year. Turns out, the joke is on me! Our 2-3ish weeks of warm and confusing weather was just a cruel joke, though it was very nice while it was here.
Weeks leading up to their session, this couple and I thought they were set on the weather front for their maternity photos. Then the weather took a turn for cold. They made the decision to brave the temperatures, and the resulting photos were beautiful as winter maternity photos most often are.
This pair brought their fur babies, rescue dogs along to be included in a few photos. Mama also incorporated the beautiful coat that her own mother wore when she was pregnant with her for a super sentimental touch.
I hope you enjoy the photos from this pair’s cold weather maternity session.

I have photographed this family since little Ms. Adelaide was born. Little Addy girl never disappoints, and this year was no different. She was full of spunk, smiles and a tiny bit of sass. The good kind. There have been a few constants with their photos year over year. Her papa’s childhood chair and a new favorite family photo, and lots of fun since her parents are pretty fun too! Enjoy a few photos from their session!

It was so fun to photograph these sweet friends of ours from my sons preschool days. We last met for family maternity photos this spring before little Charlotte was born. I remember that Kate was looking forward to becoming a big sister.
Now that baby Charlotte has arrived, these photos were their first as a family of four and everyone was just perfect. Kate was happy to pose for photos, Charlotte fit perfectly into the cute little box I brought along and mom and dad helped with the smile making. Sunset photos at the end of sessions is becoming more routine. It is a great way for kids to get all of the wiggles out, and I am able to take a few lifestyle photos of the kids as they play.
I hope the four of you and your families love these photos forever.
Kayleigh turned two and to celebrate, she and her family came to visit for photos. We started out with traditional family photo updates with a shy and reserved Kayleigh. She was happy to share silly faces but wasn’t going to readily dish out smiles. She did send a smirk or two my way though!
When family photos were through, Kayleigh got to dig into her second birthday cake made by her talented Auntie over at Pink Polka Dot Bake Shop. She really did dig into her cake too! …with a spoon! Thank goodness mom and dad were prepared for such a request. This lady was pinky up for a few bites and when she was done left most of her cake in tact to be saved for later.
The third baby is on the way for this family of soon-to-be-5. I can’t wait to meet him or her soon! Baby’s siblings have such great names that I also cannot wait to learn what we get to call this sweet babe.
We decided to take photos at Sully Plantation. The morning light was just hitting all the right places. Big sister is quite the little mama bird and was more than happy to dote on mama and her belly. Little man took some warming up but those big brown eyes right in the camera were my favorite. He’s quite the silent comedian! This family is full of so much fun and love. I am happy that I was able to photograph such a special time for them and cannot wait to meet baby number three!

We had very different plans for these photos, but it snowed the day before this family photo session. Mid-April–we thought we were out of the woods on the whole winter storm advisory thing.
I knew that mama really wanted to be able to put her girls in spring dresses and not worry about chilly weather, so we rescheduled for the following week and we made it work. I had been stalking these late blooming cherries for an entire month and was so frustrated that they hadn’t bloomed yet. It worked out perfectly because while the frost got a couple of the buds near the top of the tree, the rest popped just days before their session.
Baby sister is turning 1 so it was important to incorporate her birthday in this photo session as well. We opted to skip the cake smash bit. Juliana decided a prop smash was in order instead.
